About

Myself: I’m a 19 year old from Southeastern Wisconsin. Most recently I’ve been studying photography and journalism at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. A great number of events in my life in the past year have prompted me to go ahead with my dream of traveling by bicycle. As a former exchange student to Paraguay, my interest in exploring Central and South America has grown, and I now look forward to traveling it nearly top to bottom.

The trip: I plan to ride south from New Mexico to Argentina, carrying all the gear necessary for life on the road with me. It was inspired by many things, including a long lasting dream to travel by bicycle, the closing of my school -antioch college, the longing for something new, and in no small part a subconscious wish to delay the next step in life. The plan as it stands is to enroll in a national university when I reach Argentina, possibly studying Veterinary Medicine.

EDIT:  In mid-September, having reached Panama City on my bicycle, I visited the Argentine Embassy.  Here I learned that it was unlikely that I would be allowed to study medicine in one of the free national universities.  Travelling to Argentina seemed a bit silly after that, so I mailed the bike home, and hopped a plane to Europe, where I hitchhiked for 2 months, visiting 14 countries.
